Another very late updates what i did for the branding illustration with SSG Market.

even if i 've given the feedback that i have  to work on more child- friendly and readable format,

i quiet like the layout.

 As many personal preference ; B cuts declined by clients, all what i can do is putting them on blog. lol

if it goes well then you can buy them on online these series as a poster form.

but still way too far to go......

A book cover for "The second child".

This is a book cover illustration titled "The second child".

Earlier this year i worked on this project and I’ve waited to be published for ages.

A story is about mysterious rumour among those girl's who want to 'BE QEEN' in high school. 

i decided to use chess metaphors to illustrated girls hierarchy.  

i just heard the colour has been changed a lot when it printed.

i am a little bit scared to check it.

but the above shot is what i sent to my sincere client editor WON, designer LEE! 

thanks for choose my quirky,bold style for the especially teen's novel which can be risky!

but i pretty much satisfied what it ended up finally!

여름을 겨냥한 청소년 문학서 "괴담- 두번째아이"가 7월 중반 출간됩니다.

여고생들의 최고가 되기 위한 교묘한 고도의 심리전을 

학교를 배경으로한  체스게임으로 상징화. 

쎄게 갔다 유하게 왔다 다시 쎄게  세번의 시안을 거쳐 결정된 표지로

진정 어이쿠~하게 유난히 길게 끈 프로젝트지만 만족 합니다. 

문학동네의 원 편집자님 국내에 없는데도 온라인으로 프로젝트 진행 해주신 점, 

위험수를 가진 쎈 그림과 고집쟁이 작가를  끝까지 믿어주셔서 감사.

감리과정에서 색이 많이 변했다는데.... 덜덜덜.

SCREEN PRINT MOTEL PROJECT

Screen print, 24 pieces limited edition.
Selected 10 illustrators produced each landscape screen print with all diverse individual style
whilst we were sharing the theme "MOTEL".
when we discussed how it can be varied in terms of perspective and individual style.
i  decided to show sexually ambiguous atmosphere when we talk about "Motel"in most of Asian culture.

신세계백화점의  SSG Market의 청담동 매장 내 일러스트 사인과 SSG 매거진 내지,별지커버 작업을 마쳤습니다.

덩치가 워낙 큰 일이라 의사소통과 스케쥴면세서 안타까운 부분들과 그림 상 타협해야했던 부분들도 많았지만

7월 초 청담동의 새로 오픈한 매장에 가 볼 생각에 제법 신이납니다! 가볼 수 있을까요?

Fresh market's pretty's

Some test shots for the Korean version of posh bio market which currently i am working on.
i think it would b long journey with all these groceries, fishs and meat as well.
i think my images r pretty yummy~ there is nothing feeling better than satisfying myself !!!!
and.... good money? had stopped some jobs to do unknown adventures and 
i think my intuition lightening the positive signal.
am very tired to keep the face and make it flow but that is why it is more exciting.

약만 올리고 될 듯 말 듯, 손만 닿으면 잡힐 거리에서 
얄밉게 지나쳐가던 욕심나던 일들....
그 부풀었다 바람빠진 풍선이 되는  반복 속
마음은 탄력을 잃고 있었고 나는 쉬러 왔다.

장학금도 안되고 차라리 잘 됫다 그래도 
붙은 걸 안가긴  너무 좋은 학교라 
욕심 많은 난 거의 멍멍멍멍멍이였는데.
집중해볼 일이 생긴 듯하다.

한쪽 문이 닫히면 또 다른 문이 열리는 법이라는 것,  
큰 방향만 맞다면  주어진 길목에 총총히 한발 한발 연습하기.
작업은 아이디어가 아니라 실습. 연습이니까.  

postcard for the poem ' it's grim'

Sorry that i was't consistency to keep up posts!

June was busy to do some commercial works and am chased by self- project now.

This is a new postcard design  in response to the  poet called "it's grim" for inc magazine.

Inc Magazine is a poetry and illustration magazine based in Hackney.

They had issue 5 in this June and i participated on project with many

talented writers and illustrations. 

the colour scheme was blue and white

Smashed potato hugs the stifled air;

Masked by a thin veneer of cheer

Indifferent, fixed smiles wheel surviving souls

Into glaring, neglected spaces of

Pine and plastic cushioned chairs.

Thimbles of bitter tea arrive reluctantly

In chipped and stained off-white china.

A faint, ever-so-faint moan escapes unnoticed

By the gel slicked, rushed twenty-somethings,

With accents unintelligible,

Tip-tapping in procession down bleach bright corridors.

The creaking cattle are rounded up for lunch.

Food illustration for magazine 'Maison'

another food editorial illustration for  Magazine "Maison"
it has 2 topics one is about the arcon pasta and the other is how to pick and enjoy the best tomato from the market. did all the layout designs for the page as well. i am not sure whether it is right thing to do or not while i am paid only for illustration cut. whatever it might not  paid back straight but hope it work in right way one day.
i think i am quiet good at short term deadlines.

또 처음과 얘기와 달리 레이아웃 디자인까지 다하게 되고.....
일러스트레이터인데  매번 일마다 같은 돈 받고  타이포에 레이아웃 디자인까지 다 하게됩니다.
그래도  결과물 괜찮은게 더 나으니까. 할 때는 재미있으니.....내 연습입네 생각합니다만은.ㅎ 슬슬 쫌....
어쩌다보니.... 푸드 일러스트 포트폴리오가 빵빵
하는 김에 눈이 핑 돌아가는 와인 라벨과 비오 마켓 아이덴티티, 제이미 올리버 책 등 
그동안 눈독들이며 언젠가는.... 생각했던 일들 다 해보고 싶.....언젠가는 !!!
